iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro Max Unboxing & First Impressions ⚡A18 Pro, Camera Control & More

Alright friends, the legendary bags are here! Yes, the Apple bags are here! If I say the total cost of these devices, then it's around Rs 8-9.5 Lakhs. I don't even want to calculate. But cost is not what is important. The devices inside these are going to define what's going to happen with other phones in the next 12 months. And this definition, is it good? I'm going to tell you. And before we start the unboxing, I'm going to tell you a few things, so listen to them carefully. Because that's going to be very important. It's also important to know where Apple & its devices are going.

So what do we have? The biggest box is for the Macs. Let's put this aside. These are the phones. Oh no, these aren't the phones. There should be another phone. Oh there it is! So these are the phones & all the devices. We're going to unbox this. But along with it, we have cases, 4th generation AirPods, again cases. And then we have Apple Watch Ultra. And then we have the bands & this is the Series 10 watch. We're going to make a separate video on the Series 10 watch, so wait for that. Don't forget to subscribe. Let's start with this year's iPhones. Before unboxing these, let me tell you a few things. I feel that Apple is increasingly making changes in their phones. I don't feel that it's consumer driven. Before, it used to be that what the consumers wanted was at the centre of it. But now, everything is market driven. Now let's talk about AI. If I talk about Apple's history, then whenever they implement or announce something, they do it very well.

But you still don't get AI in the iPhone out of the box. And they've announced it a few months earlier. I don't understand that. It's very Apple unlike. There's another thing that's very Apple unlike. Generally, what do we associate with today's iPhones? That whenever a feature comes in the iPhone, it's implemented beautifully. This time, they've brought something that we're seeing for the 1st time in an iPhone. But that implementation, I'm not too sure. I have a mixed feeling. I'm going to talk about camera control. I'm going to expand on that. If I talk about hardware changes, there are a lot of good things. If I talk about the camera, there's an improvement. But overall, if I talk about these iPhones, it gives me a hope for iPhone 17 more. I'm more excited about the iPhone 17 series phones for next year. I'm going to tell you everything. I'm going to unbox them. But before that, if you're new to our channel, then do hit the SUBSCRIBE button & the BELL ICON! You'll know everything as soon as we upload a new video.

Let's open them all. We're going to open all 4 & show them all. This is the beautiful new colour, Desert Titanium. Some people were saying that there's going to be no cable, but the cable is there. And then you also have the SIM card tool. And there's documentation below it. This is Pro, Pro Max, then Pro, this is Plus. And all the display sizes have been changed. And that's the new teal colour. And this is pink. If I talk about the colours, how did you like this colour? Honestly, I don't know, this pink is not my type.

I asked a lot of people in our office, and they also said that they didn't like it. Except for Arshad, he loved this one. And this teal colour is more accommodating & people liked it. A few people said that it's alright. I like that. And all these new colours, I think the Desert Titanium is muted, looks nice, looks rich & premium. And this colour is nice, it's not new, it was always there. Alright, first of all, let me tell you that the Pro Max display size has been changed. But the sizes remain the same in the non-Pro models. Oh, I forgot to tell you that the Pro models are not assembled in India. But the non-Pro models, Plus & Base variants are assembled in India. So for the first time, the latest generation is assembled in India. And I feel very proud of it. If I talk about the in-hand feel, then compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it's bigger, it's even heavier & thicker.

And if it's bigger, then what's the weight? Let's find out everyone's weight. But I'm sure it's around 240g. It's around 230g, let's see. It's 227.98g, so it's 228g. If I show you quickly, this is the 15 Pro Max. It's 221.3g, so it's increased by 7-8g. I thought it'd be less, but no. The Pro Max weighs 199g, less than 200g, so that's nice. The Plus is a little heavier. This is also 199.3g. Despite being so big, it's 199.3g, equivalent to a Pro. And this is obviously the lightest, 170.4g. So those are the weights. What changes are there in the hardware apart from the bigger display sizes? There are camera control buttons. And thankfully, it's on both the Pro & non-Pro models. I thought they'd only put it on the Pro models, but it's not like that. If you look at these capture buttons, if I talk about the rest of the phones, they're all included.

And there's another change in the non-Pro model. The ringer has been replaced by these action buttons. 1, 2, 3, 4. All the phones now have action buttons. I've used & asked Sajid & Ayesha about the action buttons. They've also used the default mode & haven't used it for at least 6 months. So that's interesting. It's utility. Apple has said that these are the toughest glasses ever. Even now, there's an issue with the scratches. It's a tough glass, so even if you drop it, nothing's going to happen. But I'm not too sure about the scratches.

Will they fall or not? Because at the slightest scratch, there are scratches. So you'll have to use a scratch guard. No, there's nothing. Let's drop it from the back as well. Let's drop the heavier one. I know you want to see it. It's an expensive phone. But we have to do it for you. Let's do this. 1, 2. But it's Apple, so it shouldn't be a problem. Absolutely nothing. Let's move ahead. Display Sizes have increased. The Pro Max has a 6.9'' display now. The form factor has slightly increased, but the display size has increased. Look at those bezels. It stands out that the bezels have become very thin. Even the chin. And the same goes for the Pro Max, it's 6.3'' now. So it's a decent size. The base variant & Pro Max feel really nice in hand. But the bezels of the non-Pro Max are the same as before. 6.1'' & 6.7'' display. It's still 60Hz. We had an interview with Apple & I asked them when they're bringing the ProMotion 120Hz. So let's see what they said. And again in the future, we'll have to see.

But that's what's in our lineup today & we think it's a great option. Display Brightness is 2,000 nits across the board. All phones have a brightness of 2,000 nits. And the good thing is that if you're in low light, the brightness goes up to 1 nits. So that's good. But you don't get LTPO in the non-Pro models. And you get Always On Display, AOD in the Pro models.

One thing I liked is that there's 8GB RAM across the board. But the Pro Max has 256GB RAM & 8GB RAM in the 256GB base variant. But the Pro Max has only 128GB RAM. I don't know why. But the rest of the 128GB storage is available. Non-Pro models have upto 512GB & Pro models have upto 1TB. And the biggest difference is the A18 chipset in the non-Pro models & A18 Pro models.

But I'll tell you what, we ran Geekbench, Antutu score. I was expecting it to be above 2M. But surprisingly it didn't feel like that. And if I compare the A18 & A18 Pro, I didn't feel much of a difference. And the reason is that the GPU is 1 core more in the Pro. And the chipset has been upgraded & the performance has also been upgraded. And because of that, gamers who use the iPhone are going to be happy. All the Pro & Non-Pro phones have ray tracing games. Thermals have really improved. It's not that hot. So you'll be able to play sustained games. And if you compare it with the 15 series, you'll definitely see an improvement in gaming performance. Battery is also very important when it comes to iPhones. They never tell you the capacity. But overall, the battery life has increased in all the phones. If I talk about the Non-Pro models, you'll get 2-2.5 hours more battery in the 15 series.

But the Pro & Pro Max definitely have improved battery life. Especially in the Pro Max. If I compare it with the 15 Pro Max, it's been 4 hours. It's been 39 hours. So there's an improvement of 10-20% battery life. And we tested it & we didn't get much time. And we saw that this one is going to be a battery monster. So there's one thing about battery life. They advertised the biggest battery ever on the 15 series. But, it's not that. This time the battery of the Pro Max has become smaller & the battery life has increased. So like I said, the Pro Max is going to be the battery champion this time around, not the Plus.

But what about the charging speeds? Yes, the charging speeds have increased & we have to test it again. But it hasn't increased significantly. The maximum charging has gone above 25W. So there's a slight improvement in charging rates & speed of charging. And yes, this is important for gamers. The USB Type C is of the 3rd generation, which is 3.0. But in non-Pro models, you get 2.0. Alright, now let's talk about iOS & it's all about AI. Apple Intelligence! But you don't get it out of the box. iOS 18.1 Beta has Apple Intelligence. And this is what I was saying at the start that I don't understand why they announced it a few months ago. And we thought that it's definitely going to come in the iPhone & we'll get those features & we'll be able to use them.

And I was excited about it. But as soon as we took out the phone from the box, there were no Apple Intelligence features. They're going to release in October & not all of them. It's going to be a phased wise Apple Intelligence rollout. So, do we want to talk about it or not? I'm not sure we should talk about it in this unboxing. And we've made a video on the iOS 18 features on the iCard, so do check it out. There are some good features, so do check it out. Let's talk about the camera. And I'll talk about the camera control first. It's present in all the Pro & Non Pro models. And what do I think about it? My personal feeling is, I think having a button, meaning it has such a big display, it could have been utilised to make it more intuitive. This has a learning curve, it takes time & it doesn't work consistently 100 out of 100 times. And we don't expect this from Apple & we don't connect it with the iPhone.

Whatever implementation has been done, it's 100% done. But not with this camera control button, it takes time. Normal people who buy iPhones, will leave it & only use it as a shutter button. That's it, you have to click a photo, video, start, on, off. The multifunctional things like long press, change the modes, filter, etc. I think it's all for the Pros & not for normal people. But it's not for the Pros either.

Overall, I'd say it's a bit reversed. For the 1st time, they've brought something new in the iPhone, which we haven't seen in other Android phones. But it's implementation is not right. I won't say it's not right, but it's not that intuitive. That's my personal feeling. Yes, it's multifunctional, you can customise it, you can scan the QR code & assign a magnifier. So you can do all those things. We've said a lot of things with the action button, like you can customise it.

It was mentioned in the keynote. But once you use it once, twice, thrice, then it remains there. I think it'll be the same with the camera control too. Just as a shutter button, nothing else will happen. At least, I think 99% of the time. If you've seen the launch event, there were a lot of talks about visual intelligence. But now it's not there, so I won't talk about it. But if you long press the camera capture button, visual intelligence will start & you'll be able to use it.

Now let's talk about the specs. The camera is definitely an improvement. In both the Pro & Pro Max models, you get the same camera setup. If I talk about the non-Pro camera, it's now vertical. It used to be like this, but now it's vertical. That's the difference. But if I talk about the specs, the Pro has 48MP plus 48MP plus 12MP. And then 48MP plus 12MP in the non-Pro models. On the front, you get a 12MP selfie sensor.

Now, whatever we used, 2 things stood out. 1, the 2X zoom is improved. That is improved. Now, if you get nearly lossless, you'll love the 2X zoom. HDR, we've seen in the 15 series that HDR wasn't that good, but not with this one. There's definitely an improvement in that. But the skin tones are still a little off. But I'd like to say that you can customize it more than any other iPhone. You'll be able to customize your style of photography, the colors you like. There are a lot of filters & you can customize it very minutely. If you're big on customization, if you're a professional, you'll like this camera.

And now you'll be able to take macro videos & photos as there's autofocus even in non-Pro models. So yes, if you want to take macro photos or use 2X telephoto, you can do it on all the cameras. But, there are a lot of changes in the videos. And 2 things stand out in this series, which are my favourite features. 1, you'll be able to shoot 4K 120FPS videos. iPhones have always been great video cameras & they've taken it a step further. They've become better & there's an improvement in videos. And when you use 4K 120FPS, you can slow it down further. You can slow it down further & it's literally at the DSLR level. I've seen & tested that level. And then let's talk about the Audio Mix feature. Now, there are 4 Studio Quality microphones in the Pro model, which you don't get in the non-Pro. But the Audio Mix feature allows you to shoot normal videos & it erases the surrounding ambient noise beautifully.

And then there's the Studio Quality feature, where you can listen to podcasts & hear the audio quality. You can literally generate that Studio Quality voice. I mean it's amazing! Yes, when you want to shoot videos, you'll have to use the iPhone's microphones. If you import a video from outside & you're trying to use the Audio Mix feature, that's not possible. But it's impressive! The output is what we associate Apple with.

So I really liked it. Talking about videos, it's 4K 120FPS & the stability & quality is excellent. It's the best out there! And again, I'd like to say that you need to get used to the camera capture button. You need to shoot videos, change the modes, change the shutter speed, use filters etc. There's a learning curve. And I'd like to say that this time, there's a special mode in the keynote. Even in the non-Pro models, if you open the camera app, there's a dedicated mode for special videos & photos.

Which is good as there's a focus on that. If you want to experience the video & photo quality with these iPhones, then do check out the G-Drive link below. And you'll be impressed with the video & you'll even like the HDR performance. So as I said, the camera performance has definitely improved. But overall, in conclusion, I'm going to show you the price on the screen. And I'd like to talk about the prices. In comparison to last year, the Pro Max & Pro have reduced their prices. If you compare the 8 to 56 variant of the Pro Max, then it's less than Rs 15K. The 8 to 128 variant of the Pro is the same, so it's the same. But yes, the price of the Pro Max has been reduced. Overall, if I talk about the iPhone 16 series, the display has slightly improved. Especially in the Pro models, the bezels have become thinner.

The camera performance has improved, especially in videos. The camera capture & control buttons, I'm not too sure. We've talked a lot about it. Probably, when we'll have a full review & I'll use it more, I'll get used to it & I'll probably love it. So do subscribe to it. But I'd say that I have mixed feelings about the camera control. And the disappointing part was the AI features. Where I was expecting AI features out of the box, I didn't get them. Everything else is a slight incremental update. The performance has definitely improved. Especially if I talk about the non-Pro, the A18 is a huge performance bump. I can't say the same about the Pro models, there's a slight improvement.

So this is the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 16 of 2024. If you have any questions, do ask them in the comments. If you want to ask anything, do do so. Because there's a podcast on it, which is the biggest launch obviously. And we're going to bring a full review. Watch Ultra & there's a series 10 video on it as well. That's all for this video, until the next one, Keep Trakin & Stay Safe!.
